Turning “Someday” into “Today”

Have you ever wanted to do something, but weren’t 100% sure you should or could do it? Maybe its based on cost or if you wanted to do it vs. if you needed to do it. Perhaps you were on the fence about starting something that you continue to push it off. You say to yourself “someday I’ll do this” or “one day I’ll be able to do that.” Well I think it’s time we push that “someday” or “one day” aside and turn it into “today I’m going to do this.” I have recently been presented with an opportunity that I could push off for a later time, but made the decision to go full steam ahead. What better time than now to dive into new territory and finally check something off of my “to-do” list.

Ever since my weight loss and changing my diet I’ve been looking into ways to continue to live a healthier lifestyle and focus on what I’m putting into my body. I’ve made subtle adjustments here and there to what I’m eating or preparing for my daily meals. I try to make sure I have the right amount of nutrients I need to keep everything balanced. Other than daily exercise, nutrition should be the number one priority in our lives. What we put in our bodies is what fuels us to keep moving. The more garbage you put in, the more your body will perform like garbage. Does the saying “you are what you eat” ring a bell? I’ve been in that situation before and looking back at it now, I would have kicked my younger self between the legs. The problem is that there are numerous temptations and advertisements telling us that we need to “eat this” because it looks amazing, but the nutritional value is left out. If there are any nutritional facts displayed it’s usually “contains less” of something. Don’t get me wrong, to some people a bacon double cheeseburger that’s the size of my face looks more appetizing than a sad plate full of vegetables. Nutrition seems to always take a back seat.

Keeping that in mind, I’ve made the decision to “up my game” and take nutrition to the next level. Of course I could read articles online or find literature at the library, but I wouldn’t be able to get a full grasp on nutrition, let alone a plant-based nutrition. That type of learning or knowledge isn’t always found in books or on websites, especially the science behind it all. You would never get the whole story, just fragments. After countless hours of research I’ve found a way to do just that. I found a way to connect the dots between the science of living a healthy lifestyle, exercising, nutrition, and being plant-based. In order for me to achieve this I would need to become certified. That’s right, I will be “hitting the books” once again and continue to increase my knowledge in plant-based nutrition. I believe this will not only help me, but also will allow me to continue to help others build a better version of themselves. It all starts with what we put into our bodies and what we expect to get out of them. I believe nutrition is the key to a healthier life and should come hand in hand with exercise, not take the back seat. Wish me luck!
