Favorite Cookbook

We all have one or more favorite items in our lives. They can come in many different shapes and sizes like a toy, a car, or in this case a cookbook. They’re usually something that sticks with us through the test of time, or at least until we get bored with it. Even at that point they can be passed on for generations. Cookbooks for example are timeless. Sure they may be beaten up, torn, or have pasta sauce on the pages, they still serve the same purpose no matter the date. While some recipes come from online sources, there’s something nostalgic about fanning through a cookbook and finding your next favorite dish to prepare. For me, when it comes to my favorite cookbook, I have more than just one. Each cookbook has it’s own style and specialties that I can’t choose just one. Here are some of the cookbooks that are in constant rotation in my house.

The Minimalist Baker

This is the first plant-based cookbook I’ve owned and there are at least a dozen recipes that are on our menu every week. With numerous simple and delicious recipes included, this cookbook is a must have.

Salad Samurai

It’s time to break out of the box when it comes to salads as this cookbook is more than just lettuce and green salads. From the BBQ tempeh and dilly slaw salad to the East-West roasted corn salad, these recipes will change the way you look at what makes a salad.

Isa Does It

Isa sure knows how to make recipes fun and energetic. The recipes in this book are broken down so that anyone can create a masterpiece. There are meals for any day and time of the week making this an essential cookbook for changing up your weekly menu.

Thug Kitchen

If you’re looking for a laugh and some “spicy” lingo in a recipe, than this is the cookbook for you. Not only are the dishes delicious, you get a little humor with a side of explicit language.

Cookbooks have made quite the impact on my life especially when I was losing weight and slowly transitioning over to a plant-based diet. They serve as a guide for anyone who opens the front cover and is willing to trust that what the author is describing will be beneficial and above all delicious. Cookbooks are a very useful tool in any home, you just have to have the time, patience, and appetite to create your next dish.
